"How do songs emerge from the early years process? Who is involved? Who is the composer of a riff born in a workshop context surrounded by exploring children and parents?
This EP grew out of The Nest - an early years project bringing together families and and a mix of 13 emerging and lead artists on the beach and in Magic Acorns' Stonecutters Way space in Great Yarmouth in September 2023. The EP explores how songs might grow from a more immersive early years process - songs pieced together from photographs, riffs and words jotted down during and after the devising process and workshops.
Moving from Sara’s beautiful vocals and Portuguese translated lyrics, acting as a spell - an incantation - through a grooving bowl band, to the early years process reflected and refracted back on itself through a collage, the EP closes in F minor - what I think of as Norfolk’s home key.
