We are very excited to announce this research associate opportunity. We are looking for a Froebel-informed Researcher with an interest in music and young children, for this this small-scale project from May 2022-Feb 2023.
Inside-Out: A study of wordless sound-play as a pedagogy for early childhood artists and educators
This small-scale research project is a collaboration between Magic Acorns and The Royal College of Music. Funded by The Froebel Trust and RCM, the research associate will work with Dr Jessica Pitt, and other members of Magic Acorns.
Magic Acorns' practice has grown from a 20-year legacy of pioneering early childhood music and arts projects with families in GreatYarmouth.
Inspired by Froebel’s idea that through diverse experiences we come to know the world as it relates to us, and our inner life as it relates with the world, the following research questions will guide the study:
• How do children express their inner worlds through sound-play?
• What happens when educators and artists practice a pedagogy where they remove words; listen to children's sound-play and join them with their own playfulness?
• How do these findings relate to Froebel's writings about children and education?
