We are looking for an artist to join our PLAYTECH team.
PLAYTECH is an open-ended inquiry to test audio-visual tech with young children in a variety of contexts and settings. The successful candidate will join artists Nat Whitney and Charlotte Arculus to work in collaboration with children, caregivers and partners to co-design creative technologies. The PLAYTECH team will construct interactive, sensory objects and spaces that invite curiosity and play, responding to the wants, needs and interests that emerge.
PlayTech is funded by the Youth Music Energiser Fund and is part of the Energiser Learning Community made up of 11 early years creative projects across England. As part of this project you will become part of a national learning community
We are looking for an artist who has skills in:
Fabrication / design skills - creating durable, sustainable objects and spatial designs. Skills including: textiles/sewing, prop making, carpentry, creating work based on sketches, maquette building.
Working with creative technologies - audio-visual technology, sound, electronics, interactive technologies, visual mixing, projection, physical computing, installation art.
Knowledge of a range of materials - knowledge of material durability and maintenance, sustainable methods and material sourcing, health and safety requirements in relation to working with very young children.
And an interest in:
Collaboration and co-creation - do you enjoy collaborative working, creative problem solving and learning through play, supporting ideas realisation, participating in sessional work with children and families, taking part in feedback and reflection.
Early years settings and/or creating sensory spaces - developing access/inclusion, and designing spaces that invite curiosity, agency and play.
